Dear Happy Steps
As earlier notified that we shall commence the project on 1st August 2013, so the entire process went on smoothly only that we were disrupted by the heavy rainfall which lasted for almost two hours. The distributed soap was carried by the help of staff and volunteers from the office to the hospital. We were joined by Mitoki Futamura at the hospital who helped us during the hygiene education and We managed to distribute 10 boxes to 223 HIV positive clients and the remaining balance of 10 boxes were taken back to the office and shall be given out to the two branches which are affiliated to the main hospital and these are; Naama Health center and zigoti Health center next week.
On the first day of our project we met the senior administrator for Mityana Hospital and acknowledged the receipt of 20 boxes of soap to the hospital.
We took hygiene education by some of our staff members and volunteers.
There was some education from Mitoki Futamura about diarrhea and the dangers of poor hygiene among people. He informed the clients that in Japan diarrhea is rare but in developing countries like Uganda 88% of people are suffering from diarrhea and that is why Japan people would like to help them live in a health condition through providing them with soap for hand washing.
We distributed the soap to clients by our staff members in conjunction with local volunteers.
